Holland's cousins are her friends....and in my mind, they also serve as her distant sisters and brothers. Every summer we come from all corners of the country and converge on their poor grandparents!
This summer we had....15 plus 3 in utero....little bees a buzzing.....all under one roof. Their diets consisted of:
3-4 creamies per day (mostly before and after breakfast which consisted of...maybe that was breakfast?), one popsicle, one bowl of ice cream before bed, a cupcake after lunch and 5-7 boxes of pizza a night. Bees do need sugar after all.
And it was atleast 108 degrees 23 hours of the day. Oh, did I mention that 10 of these little bees (plus the 3 in utero) are all under the age of 8? Between the pool, the sprinkler park, the mall, lagoon, the back patio, the park and the local pub, we manage to survive....by sleeping with feet in our sides and bums in our faces and tubbies and laundry on constant rotation and naps only in the car!
We not only survive, we keep on doing it.
Because family is memories sweet, it is chatting on the back porch, and late nights laughing till we shed a tear, and catching up on all our favorite treats, and wearing nothing but bare feet, and being together. Just being together. That is enough for me.
